This qualification is suitable for experienced site managers. You will need to prove that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to organize and plan work activities relevant to your job role.
This includes communications with other site management and colleagues, organising and managing materials and equipment on site, creating and amending work programmes and schedules.
The assessments for this qualification can be carried out in an office environment as it is largely based on report/document control (product evidence) and discussion.
Your assessor will visit you between 3-4 times (in general) to collect evidence relating to the qualification. Using methods such as Observation (watching) and Questioning/Discussion they will collect what's needed to prove your competence in your job role.
A third party reference (witness testimony) can be used as another source of evidence stating the work you are involved in, what responsibilities you have and your level of competence.
Videos and recorded discussions are used as they are a good way of collecting substantial evidence in both practical ability and level of understanding.
Reports and documents compiled and used by the candidate can also be used as a source of evidence as they help prove organisational skills.
Your assessor will work with you to plan the assessments and methods used according to the individual.
The timescale between your initial induction for the course and completion varies. However, 3-6 months is a realistic time although it can be longer depending on the candidate's ability and availability.
The cost of a Level 6 NVQ is £1700 plus VAT at the prevailing rate. Grant money can be claimed back at completion by companies registered with CITB.
